Helen and Andre Broady,the founders of Genesis, both former drug abusers, realized most addicts are sent directly from rehab to the same destructive environment they were in before, with no new skills to get out of it. "They get into the same cycle," said Andre Broady, shelter manager for the Salvation Army and Executive Director for Genesis.

The Broadys' idea is to show residents there is a way of life other than crime and drugs, and to help them fit into that new world.  "It's not just religion," Andre says. It's more a lifestyle.  We're building bridges to save lives.
